Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance that is already found in your skin. It helps keep skin plump and hydrated. HA fillers are typically soft and gel-like. The results are temporary, lasting 6 to 12 months or longer before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles. It varies from person to person because it depends on the brand, the type, the amount of filler injected, the depth, and your own body’s metabolism.
Injectable Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers are indicated for deep and superficial lines and wrinkles. We inject these fillers into the skin to minimize fine lines and wrinkles and improve volume loss.
As we age, sun exposure, gravity and other factors can reduce the amount of hyaluronic acid and collagen in our skin and as a result our faces naturally lose volume and develop deeper creases and folds. This loss of volume also distorts the proportions and symmetry of our face changing our youthful heart shaped face to an upside-down V or jowled appearance.

During your consult, you will be assessed for volume loss in your upper face (cheek area) first. Restoring volume in the cheeks helps the appearance of the undereye, lifts the area that creates nasolabial folds, and creates the jowling appearance. Restoring this area improves the entire face.
Dermal fillers are also used to restore volume and soften wrinkles around the mouth, plump the lips, and add volume to other areas of the face. Augmentation of chin and jaw are used to improve profile and provide structure to the face.

Radiesse is comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel carrier. When injected it provides immediate volume and correction and continues to work by stimulating the body to produce its own natural collagen and elastin for long lasting effects. Over time, the gel is absorbed, and the body metabolizes the CaHA microsphere’s leaving behind your own natural collagen and elastin. Radiesse can be used in face, neck and body with results lasting up to 2 years.

By age 45 you face up to 25% collagen loss. Sculptra Aesthetic is longer lasting, FDA approved injectable that can stimulate natural collagen growth to help restore facial volume and fullness over time. It helps to restore the deep underlying structure of the skin to restore your skin’s inner structure and volume. It is typically recommended to commit to 3 treatments 4-6 weeks apart for best results that can last up to 2 years. Sculptra can be used in face, neck and body.

Skin creases when the underlying muscles contract. Wrinkles that form, for example, when you frown but go away when you stop frowning are called dynamic wrinkles. When we are younger the skin still creases but our youthful, more elastic skin flattens out completely when the muscle relaxes. As we age the skin loses its elasticity and repeated creasing of the skin causes permanent lines or static wrinkles.
Injecting cosmetic derma fillers into the thinned-out meshwork helps to fill it. Fillers fill in wrinkles by plumping up the tissue beneath the skin. The skin appears firmer, smoother, and younger.
Derma fillers can be used to add volume to the lips, plump up the cheeks, fill in forehead lines, reshape the chin or nose, eliminate marionette lines & nasolabial folds, and reduce the appearance of scars.
The cost varies with each patient. Our provider charges per treatment area and some patients want multiple areas treated. Some patients have stronger muscles needing more of the medication injected in each area. Everyone has different needs.
Here's how long you can expect results to last as a general rule, depending on the brand you use:
- Juvederm Ultra and UltraPlus - 9 to 12 months
- Juvederm Volbella - 6 to 12 months
- One to two years for Juvederm Voluma
- One to two years for Sculptra
- One to one-half year for Radiesse
Most HA fillers are infused with lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during and after treatment. Injectable and topical numbing as well as ice are also used to help make you comfortable during your procedure. Adequate time is allotted for this procedure to ensure safety and comfort.
Recovery usually takes one to two days. Most patients are able to resume their normal activities immediately following treatment. In fact, some people schedule their treatment during their lunch break and then return to work. Dermal fillers have very few restrictions.
Dysport works a bit faster than Botox by several days. You may start seeing results in 1-2 days with Dysport and about 3-4 days with Botox. The full effect of both medications takes two weeks. Every patient is different, some needing more medication than others. On occasion, it may require a complimentary touch-up (when needed) adding some more medication to give the desired result. We always wait two weeks before additional injections to allow enough time for the medication to take full effect.
