Frequently Asked Questions

IPL Rejuvenation Treatments deliver intense pulsed light to the skin and that is absorbed by unwanted skin pigmentations, causing the pigment to shatter and seal the surrounding small blood vessels. The heat energy of the laser stimulates new collagen production, firms the skin and reduces skin pore size, resulting in a more perfect looking skin.

With the current system that we have, the contact cooling system provides cooling before, during and after each pulse, our light technology treatments provide the most comfortable experiences possible.

Our IPL technology includes variable pulse configurations, enabling rapid treatments, among the fastest in the industry. Exact treatment time can range between 5 to 40 minutes, depending upon the specific application, each individual patient’s condition, and the specific area that is being targeted for treatment.

While each person is different, results for light technology treatments can be seen after the first session.

Typically, the number of treatment sessions range from 1-10 treatments, depending upon the actual application needed, and each patient. I will address how many treatments you will need at the consultation. The treatment is tailored to your specific needs and desire.

Although in some skin conditions, maintenance is not required, in others, one maintenance session is generally recommended every 3-6 months. I will go over this at the consultation and give you my advice regarding the best interval time for your specific needs.

Why IPL Treatment?

IPL is a non-invasive process that uses intense, broadband pulses of light to target skin discoloration without causing damage to surrounding skin. This broad-spectrum light heats and destroys brown spots, melasma, broken capillaries, and sun spots to visibly reduce the signs of aging.

During our early 30s, we start to lose production of collagen and elastin and our cell turnover begins to decline. This makes it more difficult for skin to recover from inflammation and injury (f.e. sun and hormone damage) and we begin to notice fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, etc.

How Does It Work?

IPL uses broadband light to target a particular pigment in your skin. As the light energy is absorbed by the pigment cells, it is converted into heat and this process destroys and removes unwanted pigments in the skin. One interesting feature of this process is that IPL penetrates to the second layer of skin without damaging the top layer, so it can improve scarring, wrinkles or colorization without damaging nearby cells.

The IPL Treatment Process

Before your IPL treatment, one of our expert skin care specialists will examine your skin to discuss a tailored approach to meet your needs.

During the procedure, a specialist will clean the area being treated and then apply a cool gel. You will be instructed to lie in a relaxed, comfortable position and we will provide dark glasses to protect your eyes. Then the IPL device is gently applied to the skin and the pulses begin.

The procedure often takes less than 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Most people consider it mildly uncomfortable and not pain
